WOLFRAM – from the mine to the powder and on to recycling
Wolfram Bergbau und Hütten AG is a world-leading supplier of high quality powders based on the metal tungsten.
Products made from Tungsten
All that glitters is not GOLD. Tungsten is a valuable metal not only for its shiny appearance, but also for its brilliant performance in recycling.
A comprehensive recycling process recovers and reuses high quality intermediates. Today, 50% of our products are recycled and made into new powders. This means more valuable tungsten for everyone and a lower CO2 footprint for the full value chain.
Saving energy is also part of the careful use of resources. CO2 emissions are continuously reduced. This is achieved by optimizing processes and using green electricity.
The mine in Mittersill (state of Salzburg) is one of the most important tungsten mining companies in the world. In ultra-modern underground mining, scheelite is extracted, which is used as a primary raw material in the metallurgical plant in St. Martin im Sulmtal (state of Styria) together with tungsten concentrates purchased from around the world. An important part of conserving natural resources and closing the supply chain loop is the recycling of tungsten-containing secondary raw materials at our recycling centers in Chiplun (India) and St. Martin.
